Campsite in Auvergne near Clermont-Ferrand
Located 20 minutes from Clermont-Ferrand, our small campsite offers an ideal location to visit the Auvergne capital! The Puy-de-Dôme is a very large department, but our central position places the Les Volcans campsite also close to Clermont-Ferrand as well as the Puy-de-Dôme, Vulcania, Mont Dore or also Murol and Saint-Nectaire. A real advantage and asset for your holidays to avoid overly long driving minutes.
Leaving the campsite, you will be à 30 minutes' drive from the historic centre of Clermont-Ferrand (Place de Jaude, cathedral and Place de la Victoire, Roman basilica Notre-Dame du Port), but also à 35 minutes to the Michelin Adventure, 30 minutes from Royat thermal baths, 25 minutes from the Zenith of Auvergne and the exhibition park or also 35 minutes from the old Montferrand.
How to get to Clermont-Ferrand from the campsite?
- By car : about 20 minutes drive to reach à Clermont-Ferrand, à about 30 minutes to park in the historic centre (prefer the many underground parking lots)
- By car + tram/bus : using 'one of the park-and-ride lots (list of park-and-ride lots). The closest to the campsite is the one at Margeride (about 20 minutes from Aydat) with Tramway line A. If you êtes in a van or motorhome, you will need to favor the Pistes park-and-ride, which n' has no height restriction.
- By shuttle : the weekends in June and every day in July‑August, a shuttle connects Aydat to the Clermont‑Ferrand bus station several times a day. Check the schedule on the region’s website.
- By taxi : several taxis serve the campsite (coordinates available at the reception)
- By hitchhiking : it works very well solo or duo, more complicated when there are more people...
- By bike : If it is very easy to go to Clermont-Ferrand by bike from the campsite, the return can turn out more complicated with some 600m of positive elevation... Electric assistance can then be a good option.
