Camping in Auvergne near Clermont-Ferrand
Located just 20 minutes from Clermont-Ferrand , our small campsite offers an ideal location for visiting the Auvergne capital! The Puy-de-Dôme is a very large department, but our central location puts Camping Les Volcans close to Clermont-Ferrand, the Puy-de-Dôme itself, Vulcania, Mont Dore, and even Murol and Saint-Nectaire . A real advantage and a real asset for your holiday, saving you from long drives.
Starting from the campsite, you will be a 30-minute drive from the historic center of Clermont-Ferrand (Place de Jaude, cathedral and Place de la Victoire, Romanesque basilica Notre-Dame du Port), but also 35 minutes from the Michelin Adventure , 30 minutes from the Royat thermal baths , 25 minutes from the Zenith d'Auvergne and the exhibition center or 35 minutes from old Montferrand.
How to get to Clermont-Ferrand from the campsite?
- By car : 20 minutes drive to Clermont-Ferrand, 30 minutes to park in the historic centre (opt for the many underground car parks)
- By car + tram/bus : using one of the park-and-ride facilities ( list of park-and-ride facilities ). The closest to the campsite is Margeride (approximately 20 minutes from Aydat) with Tram line A. If you are in a van or motorhome , you should use the Pistes park-and-ride, which does not have a height restriction.
- By shuttle : On weekends in June and every day in July and August, a shuttle connects Aydat to the Clermont-Ferrand bus station several times a day. Check the timetable on the regional website.
- By taxi : several taxis serve the campsite (contact details available at reception)
- Hitchhiking : it works very well solo or in pairs, more complicated when there are more of you...
- By bike : while it is very easy to go to Clermont-Ferrand by bike from the campsite, the return trip can be more complicated with some 600m of positive elevation gain... Electric assistance can then be a good option.
