Campsite in Auvergne near Clermont-Ferrand
Located 20 minutes from Clermont-Ferrand, our small campsite offers an ideal location to visit the capital of Auvergne! The Puy-de-Dôme is a very large department, but our central position places the Les Volcans campsite as close to Clermont-Ferrand as to Puy-de-Dôme, Vulcania, Mont Dore, or Murol and Saint-Nectaire. A real chance and an asset for your vacation to avoid too many long minutes of driving.
From the campsite, you will be 30 minutes' drive from the historic center of Clermont-Ferrand (Jaude Square, cathedral and Place de la Victoire, Romanesque Basilica of Notre-Dame du Port), but also 35 minutes from Michelin Adventure, 30 minutes from Royat thermal baths, 25 minutes from the Zenith d'Auvergne and the exhibition park or 35 minutes from old Montferrand.
How to get to Clermont-Ferrand from the campsite?
- By car : 20 minutes' drive to reach Clermont-Ferrand, 30 minutes to park in the historic center (preferably in one of the many underground car parks)
- By car + tram/bus : by using one of the park-and-ride facilities (list of park-and-ride facilities). The closest to the campsite is Margeride (about 20 minutes from Aydat) with Tramway line A. If you are in a van or motorhome, you will need to favor the Pistes park-and-ride, which has no height-limiting bar.
- By shuttle bus : on weekends in June and every day in July-August, a shuttle bus connects Aydat to Clermont-Ferrand bus station several times a day. Check the schedules on the region's website.
- By taxi : several taxis serve the campsite (coordinates available at the reception)
- Hitchhiking : it works very well solo or in pairs, more complicated when you're in a larger group...
- By bike : although it is very easy to go to Clermont-Ferrand by bike from the campsite, the return can be more complicated with a positive elevation gain of around 600m... Electric assistance can then be a good option.
