Green Key label for an ecological campsite

Ecological campsite in Aydat in Auvergne, certified Clef Verte

Committed to an eco-responsible approach since the resumption of camping in 2020, we have gradually turned it towards more sustainable tourism. In order to realize our commitment and engage in a process of continuous improvement, we obtained the Green Key label in 2024 .

Green Key Label in 2024 for Camping Les Volcans in Aydat

New paragraphThe Clef Verte label distinguishes tourist accommodation and restaurants engaged in a voluntary, efficient and dynamic environmental approach. The label is awarded annually by an independent jury made up of tourism and environmental experts and professionals. We were thus audited on a set of 109 criteria and received a visit from an auditor during the 2023 season.

Our ecological commitment, and more broadly our approach in favor of more sustainable and eco-responsible tourism , translates into concrete actions, from the most symbolic to the most impactful. They are sometimes worn only by the campsite and often shared with campers.

  • No chemical or phytosanitary products for the maintenance of green spaces and choice of eco-labeled cleaning products for the household.
  • Development of local products for snacks: St-Nectaire from the neighbor, Auvergne charcuterie, burger bread from the baker, local potatoes, etc.
  • eco-labeled household products available in our rentals and eliminate products in individual pods, which generate a lot of unnecessary waste.
  • Be an LPO refuge by implementing the association's recommendations to preserve biodiversity. This is particularly why the campsite hedges are not cut before summer (nesting period) but in the fall.
  • Loan of a nature observation bag and display of birds present around the campsite to raise awareness of the surrounding fauna and flora.
  • Awareness of biodiversity with the organization of visits to the campsite apiary (in beekeeper outfit!) thanks to the intervention of a local association, Tralalarts Aydat.
  • Works and changes in practices to limit water and energy consumption , in particular through the complete renovation of sanitary facilities.
  • Promote relationships of trust within the campsite : loan of equipment without deposit (electrical connection, rackets, balls, pétanque balls, etc.), setting up a book box, a games box and a box to share with open access.
  • Prioritize the repair and reuse of equipment, or donation to recycling centers.
  • Selective sorting, composting with loan of biobuckets, recovery of empty gas cartridges, etc.

The list should continue to grow over the seasons. And it’s thanks in particular to the good ideas of the campers who shared their suggestions or little tips with us! A big thank you to them for their help :-)
