Hiking departures from the campsite
Accessible to everyone, young and old, athletes or not, hiking is one of the best ways to discover the treasures of the Puy de Dôme! The Les Volcans campsite is particularly well located for all hikers:
two long-distance hiking trails run alongside the campsite, and a third passes nearby:
- The GR 4 , which crosses the central massif
- The GR 441 , which allows to make the tour of the chain of the puys
- The GR 30, which makes the tour of the lakes of Auvergne passing through the Sancy massif
You will therefore leave directly from the campsite for a large number of hikes, a real luxury of not having to take the car! Ask us for advice at the reception.
Many puys are accessible on foot from the campsite for outings lasting from 45 minutes to a full day: puy de Combegrasse, puy de la Rodde, puy de Vichatel, puy de la Vache, puy de l'Enfer... For enthusiasts of lakes in Auvergne, it is also possible to reach some on foot or by mountain bike: Lake Aydat, Lake Servière, Lake Guéry...
L'altitude often allows you to keep à walking même when the températures are élevées in the plains. A real comfort during période of intense heat !

You will find a selection of laminated maps available at the reception that you can borrow. Do not hesitate to ask us for advice, we will guide you to walks matching your expectations: difficulty, scenery, shaded...
While waiting d'être at the campsite, you can déjà consult our sélections of randonnées on the campsite blog. There are déjà several dozen, some are at départ from the campsite and the most éloignées are at most 30 minutes by car. We also préparé a small guide of randonnées à do around d'Aydat and the volcans d'Auvergne.
For families, we offer selections of hikes accessible from age 3, 6, 8... to allow everyone to walk at their own pace and according to the children's abilities!
Our campsite is a member of Committee of the departmental hiking of Puy-de-Dôme . A good way to support the action of its members who maintain the paths and signage throughout the year for the great pleasure of all hikers!
