Lakes of Puy de Dôme and Auvergne
You like lakes? You're in the right place! The lakes of Puy de Dôme and Auvergne around the campsite
are worth a visit on their own.
Some are suitable for swimming with their Blue Pavilion labeled beaches, such as:
- The marina of Lac d'Aydat (4 km away) with supervised swimming in July and August,
- The Lac de Chambon (15 km away), with marina and supervised swimming in summer and beautiful view of the Sancy massif!
- The Gour de Tazenat (60 km away) with swimming allowed but not supervised!
Fancy a short walk or a picnic by the lake with your family? Discover the sublime Lac Servières (10 minutes from the campsite), an ancient volcanic maar located at 1200 m altitude.
A little further and just as beautiful with its view of the Monts Dore, the Lac de Guéry (15 minutes from the campsite) is the highest in Auvergne at 1250 m.
The Lac Chauvet (36 km away), a former maar, can be discovered on a beautiful hike in the heights of the Cézallier.
Not forgetting its "brother", the essential Lac Pavin, also a volcanic maar, is the youngest volcano in Auvergne with a nearly perfect circular shape. It is also the deepest in Auvergne (over 90 m), which gives it intense blue waters!
It is possible to fish in several of these lakes, check our dedicated fishing page to learn more.
