An eco-responsible campsite for sustainable tourism
Because we are lucky to be in an exceptional natural setting, we want to adopt an eco-responsible approach in all areas of camping. Our goal is to gradually reduce the impact of camping on its environment. This is also the meaning of our commitment to La Via Natura.
This approach to ecological camping towards more sustainable tourism is based on a number of small actions. Some are solely based on the campsite, its facilities, its practices... others call on the participation of campers. A big thank you to all those who play along during their stay!
Some examples of eco-friendly actions
Our actions for sustainable tourism are of various magnitudes, from the most symbolic to the most impactful. Whether they are carried out by the campsite or shared with campers.
- Zero use of chemical or phytosanitary products for the maintenance of green spaces and choice of eco-labelled cleaning products for housekeeping.
- Develop local products for the snack: St-Nectaire from the neighbor, Auvergne charcuterie, burger bread from the baker, local potatoes…
- Capture and use rainwater for watering plantations, washing...
- Installation of solar thermal panels in 2025 on the sanitary facilities to heat a good part of the water for showers, sinks, washbasins... and less use of the historic boiler of the campsite.
- Removal of disposable elements in rentals (end of disposable mattress covers, disposable maintenance kits...) and at the snack (implementation of reusable pizza boxes, washable take-out containers...)
- To be an LPO refuge by implementing the association's recommendations to preserve biodiversity. This is particularly why the campsite hedges are not trimmed before summer (nesting period) but in autumn.
- Raising campers' awareness of the surrounding fauna and flora: lending a nature observation bag, displaying birds around the campsite…
- Information on hikes, visits, activities… adapted to each camper or family to promote the discovery of local heritage.
- Installation of photovoltaic panels in 2025 to produce electricity and maximize self-consumption within the campsite.
- Awareness of biodiversity through the organization of visits to the campsite apiary thanks to the intervention of a local association, Tralalarts Aydat, the installation of observation panels for fauna and flora...
- Use of a 100% renewable electricity contract.
- Works and changes in practices to limit water and energy consumption (electricity, gas and fuel oil)
- Replacing traditional urinals with waterless urinals, equivalent to approximately 20,000L of drinking water saved each year.
- Fostering trusting relationships within the campsite: loan of equipment without deposit (electrical connection, rackets, balls, pétanque balls...), setting up a book box, a game box and a sharing box in free access.
- Promote the repair and reuse of equipment, or donate to recycling centers for example.
- Selective sorting, composting with provision of biowaste bins, recovery of empty gas cartridges…
Other projects to come will enrich this approach in the months and years to come. The journey is still long and
