5 hikes to do from the campsite in Aydat
It is possible to hike directly from the campsite to Aydat with trails in the volcanoes for an hour or a day! Leave the car, van or motorhome parked and enjoy the vast spaces that surround us. These hikes are aimed at occasional walkers as well as the most motivated, with paths accessible to families but also real day trips.

- Puy de la Combegrasse, the must-see in one hour!
This is the walk to do even if you're only staying one night at the campsite. Allow a good hour, including a nice little slope to climb the puy, but without any major difficulty. And the climb is well worth it: at the summit you'll have a 360° panorama over the Chaîne des Puys and the Sancy massif (with 2 orientation tables). It's also a very beautiful spot to admire the sunset (bring warm clothes)! This hike is accessible to children, from age 3 if you take your time. Please note, dogs are not allowed during the grazing periods, from May to October.

Want to extend the pleasure? Add the Puy de l'enfer and the narse d'Espinasseaprès the Puy de la Combegrasse. About 3h of walking (10km, yellow marking) still at the départ from the campsite. This hike offers beautiful découvertes, notably the étonnante narse déEspinasse, an old cratère at the foot of the Puy de léenfer, which léon has long thought to be haunted! You will also have également right à to splendid panoramas over the chain of puys.

- Puy de Vichatel, a magnificent crater in 2h30!
It is the second deepest crater in the chain of puys after Puy Pariou), and it is possible to go down inside, a great experience! A large part of the hike is in the undergrowth (very pleasant on sunny days) with beautiful viewpoints at the top. The walk lasts about 2h30 or 3h with children, on a very passable path.
The route n'est not marked from the campsite but you can’t get lost with an IGN map or a GPS app. The route is available online .

- Puy de la Rodde
A hike of about 1 hour (3.3 km), partly through woodland, so very pleasant in hot weather! This volcano, located opposite the campsite entrance, was developed in 2025, offering beautiful panoramas of the Sancy massif and the Chaîne des Puys, as well as a glimpse of its crater at the summit. The path is well-maintained and easily accessible with children. A new must-see in the area!

- Puys de la Vache and Lassolas, the twins in one day!
Set off with your picnic to discover these two beautiful twin craters. On the menu: glowing red scoria and exceptional panoramas over the Chaîne des Puys! To enjoy it, you'll have to tackle two steep slopes and quite a few steps. Our little tip: go up via Puy de Lassolas, as its path is made of scoria, which is very slippery on the way down. Along the way, you'll also pass the Puys de Charmont and de la Rodde. For discovering these puys with young children , prefer starting from the dedicated parking lot.
Proposals d' a loop of 16km between the campsite and the puys of the Vache and Lassolas or a longer alternative with a route of 18,5 km from the campsite .

- Lake Servières, a day trip discovery!
This lake was formed in a volcanic crater and offers a still-wild landscape. The hike to reach it from the campsite is a round trip with no particular difficulty and several beautiful viewpoints. It is possible to eat along the way at Pessade. The approximately 19 km hike follows the white and red GR trail markings from the campsite.
