5 hikes to do from the campsite in Aydat

- Puy de Combegrasse, the 'must‑see in one hour !  It's the walk à do même if you only spend qu'one night at the campsite. Allow about an hour, including a nice little côte to ascend the puy but without major difficulté. And the climb is worth the detour: at the summit you will have a panorama à 360° over the chaine des puys and the massif du Sancy (with 2 tables d'orientation). It's also a très beautiful spot to admire the sunset (prévoir warm clothes) ! This randonnée is accessible to children, dès 3 years old at a relaxed pace. Note, dogs are not autorisés during the périodes d'estives, from May à October.

Want to extend the pleasure? Add the Puy de l'enfer and the narse d'Espinasseaprès the Puy de la Combegrasse. About 3h of walking (10km, yellow marking) still at the départ from the campsite. This hike offers beautiful découvertes, notably the étonnante narse déEspinasse, an old cratère at the foot of the Puy de léenfer, which léon has long thought to be haunted! You will also have également right à to splendid panoramas over the chain of puys.

- Puy de Vichatel, a magnificent cratère in 2h30 ! C'est the second cratère the deepest in the puys chain after the puy Pariou), and it is possible to descend à l'intérieur, a beautiful expérience ! A large part of the randonnée is in sous bois (très pleasant on sunny days) with beautiful viewpoints at the summit. The walk lasts about 2h30 or 3h with children, on a very practicable path.

The route n'est not marked from the campsite but you can’t get lost with an IGN map or a GPS app. The route is available online .

🌋 Interest: descent into a deep crater, undergrowth, volcanic atmosphere

- Puy de la Rodde , a hike of about 1h (3.3km) partly through woodland, therefore very pleasant in hot weather! This volcano located opposite the campsite entrance underwent developments in 2025 that allow you to enjoy very beautiful panoramas of the Massif du Sancy and the Chaîne des Puys as well as to glimpse its crater at the summit. The path is well passable and accessible without problem for children . A new must‑see in the area!

🌋 Interest: recent aménaged panoramas, discreet crater, ideal in hot weather

- Puys de la Vache de Lassolas, the twins in one day!  Set off with a picnic à the discovery of these two beautiful twin craters. On the menu: glowing pouzzolane and exceptional panoramas over the chain of puys! To enjoy it you will have à face two beautiful slopes and quite a few stair steps. Our little tip: ascend via Puy de Lassolas, as its path is in pouzzolane, very slippery à the descent. On your way you will also cross the puys of Charmont and de la Rodde. For discover these puys with young children , prefer the departure from the parking lot provided for this purpose.

Proposals d' a loop of 16km between the campsite and the puys of the Vache and Lassolas  or a longer alternative with a  route of 18,5 km from the campsite .

🌋 Interest: red pouzzolane, twin craters, emblematic landscapes of the Chaîne des Puys

- Lake Servières, a découverte à the journée ! This lake s'est formé in a cratère of volcan and offers a landscape still wild. The randonnée to y accéder from the campsite is a round-trip without difficulté particulière with several beautiful viewpoints. It is possible to have a meal along the way à Pessade. The randonnée d'environ 19 km is done by following the white and red GR markings from the campsite.
