The capital of Auvergne, Clermont-Ferrand, is only 20 minutes from the campsite. Why not take advantage of it to spend a day discovering the historic center, Michelin Adventure, Montferrand... ? Here are some ideas to organize your day in Clermont.

We are lucky to be close to Clermont-Ferrand, a city shaped by lava stone that gives this surprising color to the buildings. You will find in this article all practical information to get to Clermont-Ferrand from the campsite.

Spending a day in Clermont-Ferrand can be a good option, especially on rainy days. You will actually gain about 6 degrees compared to the campsite. A l'inverse, visiting the city is discouraged on very hot days...

Here are some suggestions of visits and activities in Clermont-Ferrand:

Historic centre visit, between Place de la Victoire, the cathédrale (no, it isn't a hall, it's the natural colour of lava stone!), Place de Jaude and its statue of Vercingétorix, the basilica Notre-Dame du Port... The neighbourhood isn't large but it has a lot of charm! Visit of l'Michelin Adventure. A very nice surprise for us, even for children! The museum is suitable from about 4-5 years old, thanks especially to investigation booklets to complete throughout the visit. The museum blends the company's history with the great World History, ranging from the tire (obviously!), to trains and airplanes, passing by the role of Michelin in the mapping of our roads, signage... Fascinating. You can easily spend between 2 and 3 hours there. Practical information
Rugby lovers will be able to dive into the history of the ASM by going to ASM Experience Museum located in the Marcel Michelin stadium. Possibility to visit the museum and/or the Michelin stadium. And if the calendar coincides, why not attend a match of the yellow and blue? Memories guaranteed!
Visit of the historic city of Montferrand. Half-timbered houses, special gothic and renaissance hotels, fountains, clock tower... You will immerse yourself in a medieval rural world! A little treat for most visitors. Suggested itinerary available at the tourist office.
