20 activities and visits around the campsite to do when it rains

Rain is never very pleasant, but by adapting the holiday program a bit, it's possible to continue to enjoy it fully. Here are some suggestions for activities to do when it rains around the campsite:

Swimming and relaxation at  Royatonic

25 minutes from the campsite. Baths over 30 degrees, jacuzzis, hammams, saunas... Royatonic invites you to relax in the beautiful setting of this spa town. It is also possible to benefit from treatments. Online reservation recommended. From 6 years old.

Other indoor swimming options for young children: Chamalières pool, O'Sancy in La Bourboule; Les Hermines in Super Besse...  

Activities dry and warm (100% indoors)

• Michelin Adventure (35 minutes from the campsite, to Clermont), great to do even with young children. You can easily spend 2 hours there, maybe more for adults. No need to be passionate about tires or cars to be captivated by the very well-built visit.
• Volvic Stone Cave (40 minutes from the campsite), you will discover the history of the exploitation of this volcanic rock which still marks the region's architecture. Depending on the day, two visits are offered: a historical tour or the light cave for a majestic show.
• Petrifying fountains and/or Cornadore Caves ( 20 minutes from the campsite, à Saint-Nectaire) où you will discover the techniques of petrification of objects in the one (a truly artistic work!) and the ritual route of the first Roman baths in the other. Also discover the very beautiful Roman church of St-Nectaire-le-Haut.
• Museum of the Battle of Gergovie  (about 20 minutes from the campsite). On the same battlefield (but in a beautiful building, well dry!) you will relive the fight led by Vercingetorix and his men against the Romans of Julius Caesar. It's also a discovery of the life of the Arvernian people. Many elements presented require reading, so we recommend the visit starting from ages 8-10.

Activities possible even in the rain

• Lemptégy Volcano (25 minutes from the campsite), opt for the small train tour you will be almost always à l'abri during the l'exploration of the cratère of this volcano mis à nu. The début of the visit takes place indoors and the two final dynamic films are also dry. Prévoyez even a raincoat for the outdoor passages and if you want to go down to collect volcanic stone!
• Château de Murol (15 minutes from the campsite), the visit is 50/50 between l'intérieur and l'extérieur so it is doable! You probably won't enjoy the knight show that is outside but you will have more time (and probably fewer people) to visit the pièces de château.
• GAEC Farm of the Bird (20 minutes from the campsite), there isn't good météo to go à the farm so take advantage of a rainy day to attend the milking (à the shelter), see the calves nice and warm à the interior, as well as the pigs, sheep... Boots and raincoats are mandatory nonetheless!
• Vulcania (25 minutes from the campsite) although most activities are indoors, it is therefore particularly suitable for rainy weather. But it is also the days of highest attendance...

- Indoor climbing , at the leisure space of Aydat (5 minutes from the campsite) with a very nice wall or in the B'up rooms of Clermont which offer bouldering, Clip'n climb, route areas... 

- Artistic awakening à  Milles formes   (30 minutes, à Clermont). This center d'initiation à l'art is free and offers activities to children from 0 à 6 years (the older ones can accompany their little brothers and sisters). It's great, and indoors!

- Indoor leisure parks   for children with for example  Youpi park .

Also:  the movies, the bowling, the escape-games...

All these activities are accessible from our campsite located in the heart of the volcanoes of Auvergne. Even in rainy weather, a stay in Auvergne remains rich in discoveries and experiences, for the little ones as well as for the grown-ups.
