What to do when it's very hot around the Aydat campsite?
The thermometer sometimes rises very high during the day at the campsite in Aydat (even if the nights are always cool!). You then need to adapt your schedule and activities to make the most of it. Shaded hikes, cool activities... Here are some ideas for activities to do when it's very hot around Camping Les Volcans in Aydat, in the heart of the Auvergne volcanoes.
Shaded hikes around Aydat
Several hiking trails are well suited to hot days thanks to the shade offered by the undergrowth. Among
the easiest hikes (from 3 years old) , the tour of Lake Pavin, the Puy of Vichatel or the waterfalls of Queureuilh and Rossignolet are recommended. Some slightly longer and shaded hikes are also possible such as
the loop of the Dent du Marais at Murol (2h15),
the three waterfalls of the Chaudefour valley (3h) or also the loop of the Tuillières Rocks and Sanadoire (3h).
Think about taking water, there is generally no supply point on the trails.
Hikes near water to cool off
On hot days it is also pleasant to hike along a stream and take a cool picnic break.
The Gorges of la Monne (about 15 minutes from the campsite) are well suited for this type of outing, the walk lasts 2h and it is possible to stop and play at the water's edge without difficulty. However, note that the end of the return path is little shaded.
Another possibility:
the Chiloza waterfalls , a 2h walk near Besse that leads to the edge of multiple small water falls where children can play, build dams, make boats... It is possible to shorten the walk by doing an out-and-back to avoid the second part of the somewhat long loop.
Swimming in the lakes around the campsite
If many lakes are close to the campsite, only Lake d'Aydat and Lake Chambon are authorized for swimming . It is même surveillée during l'été on the beaches aménagées. It is également possible to rent pédalos, canoés, paddles... In July and août, we advise you to go there in the morning to enjoy the calm.
Shaded activities in the forest
The Forêt des Arboris, à 5 minutes from the campsite. This éco-citoyen leisure park s'est installé in the forêt d'Aydat and offers you of activités adaptées à all âges : treasure hunt for the little ones, game experiences (a kind of escape game in nature) or laser wood (laser game in the woods) for the older ones and adults. We then enjoy the coolness of the forest and the kiosk with its local drinks. Visits in the cool indoors
The Volvic Stone Cave,
à 35 minutes from the campsite. Coolness guaranteed in this old quarry where the Volvic stone was extracted, this dark volcanic rock that is found on many buildings including the cathedral of Clermont-Ferrand. It also reveals the daily life of the workers who worked there as well as the works made from this stone.
