Organizing your vacation with your dog at the campsite in the Puy-de-Dôme

Are you looking for a campsite that accepts dogs in Puy-de-Dôme and ideas for visits that are accessible with your companion? Good news, your companions are welcome at Les Volcans campsite, but also in a large number of tourist sites in the surrounding area. Here are some tips and useful information to help you organize your vacation with your dog.

Let's recall: dogs are welcome at Les Volcans campsite! They can accompany their owners on vacation as well in the rentals as on the campsites. And this year they will even be entitled to a small useful gift on their arrival ;-)

We try to facilitate their séjour at the campsite through small gestures like a "Dog bar" at the snack or the loan of bowls available à the réception. It is also possible to borrow a vacuum cleaner to facilitate cleaning at departure. For 6 years the dogs' welcome has always gone super well, both for the animals, their owners and the other campers, thanks to everyone's attention and respect of basic rules, as picking up droppings and keeping them on a leash.

What to visit with your dog in Auvergne around the campsite?

Most tourist sites around the campsite accept dogs. Here are a few, the list is not exhaustive :

Dog boarding near the campsite

Some tourist sites don't accept dogs, it's for example the case of Vulcania, the Musée de la bataille de Gergovie, the Parc animalier d'Auvergne or also of l'Aventure Michelin.

If you wish to enjoy these visits it is possible to have your dog looked after for the journée or a few hours. Several établissements exist around the campsite, notably :

Hiking trails to do with your dog

Most hiking trails are accessible with a dog. However, there are a few exceptions that are better known to avoid disappointment (or even a fine) along the way. Here are the most notable dog-free hiking trails:

Le Puy de Combegrasse, situé behind the campsite. Closed from May à October due to sheep grazing.

You must therefore do particulièrement pay attention à your itinéraire if you wish to climb to the summit of Puy de Sancy (only by téléphérique or via GR 4 or GR 30) but for the rest you have almost free rein everywhere!

Lakes, waterfalls, volcanic domes... you won't have only the abundance of choice for your hikes with your dog. You will still need to think about taking into account its physical abilities, some hikes can be demanding even when you have four legs :-)
