Where to go climbing within 30 minutes of the campsite?

Climbing enthusiasts will find plenty to do around Camping Les Volcans. Spring and summer are obviously the ideal seasons for climbing in Auvergne with mild weather. From beginner routes to more demanding climbs, the Parc des Volcans is full of climbing sites to discover!
- The Tooth of Rancune, 25 min from the campsite, an exceptional site at the heart of the famous Chaudefour Valley reserve. About forty routes await you on this lava column 130m high!Undoubtedly one of the most spectacular spots.Going up to 8a+ for the "Gérard Russier route". Plan a half-hour approach walk from the reserve house. And be careful, as it is a protected natural reserve, several protection rules apply, including a strict ban on dogs.
Info on the Tooth of Rancune. - Ceyrat site, 15 minutes from the campsite, this climbing rock is ideal for learning thanks to the lower routes suitable for initiation. Around thirty routes in total are available to you. Maybe very busy on weekends due to its proximity to Clermont... But recommended for beginners or with children.
Info on the Ceyrat site. - Le Capucin, 30 minutes from the campsite, a superb forest site at the foot of the Capucin cliffs. The ideal place for family climbing with easy blocks for young climbers! For older children and adults, around forty routes are accessible, classified in green, blue, red, and black. In short, we recommend it for everyone :-)
Info on the Capucin site. - Cournols Blocks, 10 minutes from the campsite, an original site with huge stone blocks placed in the middle of the fields and forest (up to 8m high!) that allow you to climb freely. The stone is rough but the pleasure is there! You can even cycle here from the campsite to warm up...
Info on the Cournols site. - The Crête du Coq, 25 minutes from the campsite, is next to the Dent de la Rancune in the Chaudefour Valley. With around forty routes reaching up to 130m high, it's the highest spot in the department! Conditions are the same as for the Dent de la Rancune, it's a protected natural reserve with several protection rules applying, including a strict ban on dogs.

Aydat Leisure Centre has a new climbing wallwith 17 routes accessible to all (by reservation). Perfect equipment for climbers on rainy days.
